It’s finally here.

Today is the day.

In 7 hours, I will wake up to embark upon a wonderful journey to Brazil.

At 8:30 am, I will be on my way to the airport.

At 2:20 pm, I will land in Detroit.

At 9:45 am, I will land in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

At 6:52 pm, I will arrive Curitiba where I will reunite with my sister, Kelli, and get to FINALLY meet her husband, Tiago.

& thus ends my schedule for the day.

More soon to come!

In Action

Before I forget, I thought I would add a few videos I had to create for my art education class. I cringe a little while watching myself on video, but at the same time I think it went pretty well.. despite the few times that I stumble with my words.

Also a few more photos from microteaching!

Taking a Break.

I’m sitting in the basement at school frantically studying for finals. I only have 2 more days until I am done with finals, and 7 days until I leave for Brazil, yet I have so much left to do..

Instead of worrying over the matter, I’ll post some of my favorite songs.

Enjoy them with me, won’t you? 🙂

Jason Mraz

Phillip Phillips

Well I suppose that’s as good a break as any. Hope you enjoyed it!

For all the things to be thankful for

(Post transferred from my former site written 11.25.12)

This thanksgiving was well spent with the people who are dearest to me. Although I’m a little bitter that my thanksgiving break is coming to a close, there is so much to look forward to and be thankful for. My mother, whom I refer to as “Babs”, asked me to accompany her to the Albertville Outlets on non other than Black Friday. We weren’t as determined as the early morning shoppers who arrived there in the wee hours before the sun rose, but we did get there at 11am. With the day ahead of us, we were in pretty good shape to get some much needed shopping done before our trip to Brazil.

We started out our shopping adventure in Pacsun where we would spend a total of 2 hours picking out a few shirts for Tiago… It was a little much for me, but Babs was determined to pick out a few shirts that would win Tiago over. He really likes the color white and the brands Hurley and Quiksilver. Needless to say, she had the whole Pacsun staff on a hunt to find the perfect shirt. After 2 hours, and just 5 minutes to spare before their black friday sale was to end, Babs made it to the finish line. We walked out of there with our heads held hight with the proud satisfaction of a shop well done.

10 hours later, yes 10, Babs and I walked out with 9 bags full of goodies. Pacsun, Old Navy, Charlotte Russe, New York and Company, Ann Taylor, Dick Blicks, and Famous Footwear, I thank you and applaud you for your sales. Although I got a few Summer necessities for myself, the majority of the day was spent in a frantic search for my sissy. Babs had me try on all of our Summer picks for Kel. It was torturous, but worth it. I can’t wait to celebrate with Kelli in EXACTLY ONE MONTH! I can’t even believe it.

Here’s to Black Friday.

The wonderful feeling you get when you’re surrounded by all who you love and who loves you. In celebration of Thanksgiving and Grandpa’s birthday. And the turkey. Let’s not forget the turkey.

Here’s to a great gathering.

The Totino-Grace Eagles once again made their way to state. There is nothing this team cannot do. It’s not coincidence that they make it every year and It’s much more than luck. These boys make it every year because they have great coaches who believe in them and teach them the value of teamwork. They learn their strengths on this team and you can truly see them on and off the field. Watching my Dad coach these boys is something else. He truly makes an impact on their lives. This is why I look up to my Dad. This is why I’m proud to call him my Dad. He has the biggest heart out there. From being a fan as a young girl- to a student myself, and now as an alum, I have watched them make it to state every time. Last night I watched them win yet another State Championship against Owatonna (49-21). That’s 7 State Championships in 10 years. What an honor to have seen all of them. I love my Dad and I love my Eagles.

Here’s to the Eagle Dynasty.

NOVEMBER 18th 2012

(Post transferred from my former site written 11.18.12)

I have to say, I’m pretty excited that we are nearing Thanksgiving break. With almost 3 months of school put behind me, I could use a little break with some turkey and gravy. Lots and lots of gravy… I just have to get through 2 days of school with a total of 4 classes-then I am free to enjoy the holiday fun! Not only am I going to be enjoying some warm holiday drinks accompanied by some good Christmas music, but I get to invision myself on the Beach in Brazil with my sister, Kelli, laying next to me! Only 35 more days until I will be reunited with Kelli and get to meet Tiago!

To update you on my school life:

I finished my Typography project in my 2D Design class.  Again, this was made up of quotes, phrases, words, and the names of the people I love. Here is the final product:

Not only did I have this project on my hands, but I also had a few more that were pretty fun.

In my Art Education class I did my 2nd microteaching for middle schoolers. We were to focus on creating a multicultural lesson. I decided to do mine on Dia de los Muertos and to have my kids make Masks! Here is the final product:

The last project I’ll share with you is one that I created in my 2D Digital Imaging class. We had to create 6 clones of ourselves:

The last piece of news I have to share is that I successfully entered into all the classes I was hoping to for the Spring semester!
1. Art History: Survey of Art
2. The Practice of Art
3. 3D Design
4. Foundations of Education
5. Exploring Photography
6. Sociology

I’m most excited to take my photography class and hopefully learn some new techniques as I am hoping to obtain the assistant photographer position at Bellagala.

All things bright and beautiful.

Wesley James is turning ONE!

(Post transferred from my former site written 11.05.12)

On Saturday November 3, I had the fine pleasure of working with one of the cutest one year olds around. Although in the beginning Wesley had a hard time, we managed to get him smiling and giggling in no time! I’m sure if I was teething I would be cranky too!!

Lets have some Birthday fun because I’m turning ONE!!!

Even though he’s only turning one, his Momma can’t believe how fast he’s growing up.. Wesley is such a great little boy.

I absolutely loved this photo session.. babies are great aren’t they?
If anyone is interested in getting baby photos (or any photos for that matter) taken, I would absolutely love to. Christmas cards, engagements, family photos, anything. I’m up for the job!

A post of random things.

I’M HOME!!!!!!!! It’s good to be home… I can sleep in a big bed that requires no climbing whatsoever, I can shower WITHOUT flip flops on, and when I wake up I get to open up the kitchen cupboards to fully stocked shelves… much different from the college lifestyle. So why am I home? To visit friends, family, and to celebrate my sister Jenna’s 26th birthday of course! Oh –  and most importantly…. to take Wesley’s One year photos!! My friend Jessica’s son, Wesley, is turning one this month and asked me to take some of the last photos of Wes being ONE. I am so excited, inspired, and fired-up for Saturday’s shoot. I have plenty of fun ideas for little Wesley and can’t wait to share them all with you after the big day.

Aside from all the excitement that this weekend brings, I would like to share some fun photos that I stumbled upon while further editing Jessica & Tanner’s engagement photos….

In this bottom image, I photographed a man that I often seeing playing his accordion on the Stone Arch. I just love this photograph. It has so much character. The mans beard, his red velvet jacket, top hat, accordion, bike, and the top hat with the teddy bear on the ground [ notice the arrow pointing to the top hat for tips? 😉 ]. So much character. So much story. I love this one.

I also had some fun with this and added my own watermark.. Eventually I think I’ll add my own watermark to all my images. It’s pretty fun seeing my name printed on my work.

LASTLY… Here’s a look at my newest project!

In my 2D Design class we are working on “Typography” which is basically a drawing made up of words. I used a sharpie and technical pens. So mine is a self portrait and the words I use are quotes that describe me. Here’s what I have so far….

That’s all I have for now!
