my name is Katelyn Ferguson, daughter, sister, friend, and aspiring artist living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am a 20-year old college student going into my second year and doing what most people my age do- which is to try to figure out what it is that I want to do. I have many passions in life with art being at the top of the list.
There is a lot to think about when going about the journey of finding your passion in which you choose to work. I have many passions that are pulling me in many directions… I dream of being a writer, an art therapist, working with the elderly, a pre-school teacher, a wedding planner, a vet, a store-owner, but the one that sticks out the most is becoming an elementary school art teacher. This is a dream that I have had since I was a little girl. It’s the one I’m kicking myself for whether or not I should pursue.
Besides the point of my future career, I have started up my own business as a freelance artist. I need to gain the experience and start somewhere, right? I originally created this business to sell my art in hopes that I can make enough to buy a plane ticket to Brazil, where my sister resides with her husband, Tiago. Today, that dream has already become a reality. The tickets: booked. Passport: check. Visa: have it. Excitement: on overload. The money that I make from the selling of my art is still going toward my ticket for Brazil, as I have to pay off the amount to my lovely parents. The only difference now is that I have even more of an incentive to continue to pursue this since it’s something I’m highly considering as a career! Exciting, right?? Not only that- but I have now thrown in my love of photography into the mix! I’ve done a few photo sessions and would love to build my career. I will be declaring my minor as applied photography in the spring.
More about me? I was born into a family of 6, I have 2 older sisters, Jenna and Kelli, and one older brother, Mike, and lets not forget my amazing parents Barb and Jeff. My siblings and I were raised in New Brighton, Minnesota, and now live in a loft in Downtown Minneapolis. Our life is busy, loud, exciting, and fun. I wouldn’t trade my family for the world.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Thank you so much,
